Brighton, the spiritual home of the Mod.
Being a Mod at heart, with a penchant for biker-style leather, there was only one option for what I’d wear for a day trip to Brighton last weekend. I’d have to go with two outfits. A Fred Perry jumper and a Topshop leather biker jacket.
Trouser-wise, that was a no-brainer; a pair of royal blue, shiny, sparkly skin-tight leggings – which were, to my delight, renamed mermaid trousers by a fabulously camp fellow outside an ‘adult store’. I’ll go with that, mermaid trousers, at the seaside is too perfect.

Cheap shades are so much easier to wear. When I wear my expensive ones, I’m constantly having to check they’re still on my face. I think I got these aviators on a market stall somewhere. The TS dress and jacket were birthday presents, (well vouchers) I don’t usually wear faux leather, it makes you perspire. Topshop didn’t have any real leather biker jackets in stock, but I love this one, it’s a good compromise, I just hope it lasts alright. The dress is more than likely supposed to be Empire line but I have a short torso, so the elasticated part comes to my waist naturally. Lucky. The belt and bag are vintage, croc leather and tan leather respectively. The mock-stockings are a prettier more elegant version of the ones that have saturated the market. The suede KG boots are pretty impossible to walk on cobbles in, bit they’re one of the highest pairs I own.
