Her Apparel – December 12th

Hey All,

Here I am, yes… I’m in actual flats. I saw a great friend of mine a week ago, I was wearing these boots and she didn’t recognise me at first. Which I quite like for some reason; I mean better that she didn’t recognise me out of heels than recognise me in Crocs, right?

Anyway, the riding boots are a rare pair of non-heels in my wardrobe; I walk in and out of the city as much as I can, and so they’re great for wet and chilly weather… only I can’t pack them in my handbag when I get to where I’m going like I can with ballet flats…

Hello all!

White is the ultimate summer colour.

I like it in different shades mixed together and worn with metallic accessories. Here with silver ‘pearl’ necklace, gold-tipped heels and a studded clutch. I can’t really get used to white shoes, I’d probably be alright with white sandals but probably not when the rest of the outfit is all-white.

Hey All,

I’ve waited long enough to get a pair and having finally chosen and ordered a pair they arrived last week, my flat slipper shoes. They couldn’t be more OTT if they had heels. Pony skin: check; Leopard print: check; all over spike studs, check, check check. I got them on line at Sheinside.com long with the leather trim blazer.

Keeping the outfit to a black/fawn colour pallet I carried this Kurt Geiger Perspex XL Pouch, it has a wrist strap and the inside purse is attached to the outside at the seams. It reminds me of that 70′s furniture, made from thick brown glass and highly polished chrome, nicely retro.

Hello all,

As if you’re inside reading right now!

Brightly coloured jeans are what summer is about. I like a pop of colour in an outfit but I usually leave it to just the one piece. However, having received my baroque / polka dot print shirt from Sheinside… (new love for on line shopping) I bit the bullet and went for all over colour.

Oddly, I hadn’t realised that I’d completely accessorised with black, ah well you can’t change everything all at once.

Ahoy there!

Brighton, the spiritual home of the Mod.

Being a Mod at heart, with a penchant for biker-style leather, there was only one option for what I’d wear for a day trip to Brighton last weekend. I’d have to go with two outfits. A Fred Perry jumper and a Topshop leather biker jacket.

Trouser-wise, that was a no-brainer; a pair of royal blue, shiny, sparkly skin-tight leggings – which were, to my delight, renamed mermaid trousers by a fabulously camp fellow outside an ‘adult store’. I’ll go with that, mermaid trousers, at the  seaside  is too perfect.

Hi All,

S/S’12 and all those great new trends and colours we’re yet to wear! I wear black and navy blue so often that I long for bright colour pops when spring comes around.

Trend-wise I love the Tropicana prints at Stella McCartney, Salvatore Ferragamo and Dior. Tropical prints featuring palm trees, parrots, surfers and even mermaids (Versace) have .

Colour-wise, I love the  shades of rich blues and greens; I presume that when Spring / Summer colours are presented each year very often they’re pale pastel shades so as not to alarm us? Pretty but also pretty plain. I prefer the bold strong colours that filter through as the season progresses.

And boy am I getting ready to wear them.

Now I’m of the nearest Tiki bar for a piña colada, while I wait for some tropical sunshine.

Hello All,

Sunshine, Joy. Official ‘Summertime’, Joy. Warm bright evenings, Joy.

I’m so excited at the moment. The massive amounts of extra daylight and beautiful sunshine we’ve been having has made me happy. Being able to do things that don’t involve and NOT WEAR TIGHTS is too good. I’m kinda running myself to the max at the moment, freelance deadlines and blog style posts, as well as trying to run an on-line vintage business on ASOS and setting up my own site… But I love it, being busy is great! Makes you feel alive.

This Prada top is made of the softest silk/cotton mix fabric and I love its simplicity, it balances out the more structured fabric and design of the F21 linen mix peplum skirt. The look is quite smart but made more fun with the vintage snake-print clutch and hot pink Kurt Geiger peep toe heels. A full shoe can look a little harsh with bare legs and a shorter skirt, the peep toe makes the loo sweeter and more summery.

Stripes have this really wicked way of making a look seem more bright and vibrant even if they’re black and white stripes. Monochrome can look a bit uniform like, but add stripes, leather (or pleather) and platform boots and monochrome becomes more chilled out. The sleeveless Primark blouse has a clever double collar detail, the underneath collar is black to match the placket (the bit where the buttons go) and the top collar is white to march the shirt and tie-in the whole piece. Without the second white collar, the black detail would look a little detached and awkward.

The River Island leather-look leggings are the easy to wear and the Korky’s Lita-style boots are really high but really easy to wear.

The best thing about January is the prospect of a new year, a new mind set and less importantly but more fun, a new set of colours to introduce into your wardrobe. Most of the clothes here are high street, mainstream shops tend to address and implement new season colours as soon as the January sales signs go up. (Nothing, however, makes me not want to buy something cheap from last season, than the rails of fresh, crisp spring colours for the new season).

I wore this Warehouse cardigan back-to-front because the weave in the lace is too loose to wear it the right way ’round with out another top underneath. A second top would’ve ruined the look by taking away the pretty simplicity of the lace. I took the label out of the inside of the cardigan as it would have been seen at the front neckline. The simple pale turquoise pencil skirt and hot pink clutch (both Primark) were a perfect way of introducing colour to the look and the thick gold chain adds a little edge to an otherwise pretty look.
